In Kashmir, the government reopens SMS service within 24 hours

New Delhi, Oct 15, 2019, Tuesday

72 days after the removal of Article 370 in Kashmir, the central government yesterday approved the launch of SMS paid service along with postpaid mobile services.

However, within 24 hours, the government has banned SMS again. Postpaid mobile service has been continued.

The government is believed to have taken this decision for security reasons. As soon as the post-paid service started, a truck carrying apples was attacked in south Kashmir and the driver was shot and killed.

While a large search operation is being conducted to find the terrorists who attacked the attack, the government's move to ban the SMS service is showing that the possibility of a terrorist attack in Kashmir cannot be ruled out.
