Washington, Ta. Tuesday 22 October 2019

US President Donald Trump will celebrate Diwali at the White House on Thursday. The event was planned in the US just three days before the Diwali festival in India.

Trump will celebrate Diwali for the third time in the White House. This tradition began in 2009 by his predecessor, Barack Obama.

According to the White House, Trump will celebrate Diwali on Thursday with a lamp to light the lamp. No other planning details are available.

In 2017, Trump celebrated Diwali for the first time at his Oval Office in the White House. Meanwhile, members of his administration and a special group of Indian-American community leaders were present. Last year, Trump invited the then Indian ambassador to the US, Navjet Singh Pathan, to organize a Diwali.

In the meantime, the Diwali festival has begun in America. Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated Diwali on Saturday with the Indo-American community. He tweeted that we lit a lamp in the Governor's Mansion. We discussed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Texas. We celebrate the victory of the light over the darkness.

Olson, a Republican from Texas, also tweeted at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple celebrating Diwali.
