Gandhi Jayanti announces big decision of central government, detention of Kashmiri leaders

New delhi date. Wednesday 2 October 2019

On the 150th birth anniversary of President Mahatma Gandhi, the central government today announced the release of the detained leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, all were warned not to make any controversial statement and try to corrupt the law and order of the state. According to one opinion, this decision was taken in view of the block development council elections being held in the state.

On August 5, the Union government canceled the 370th clause giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir after two former chief ministers, Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP, Umar Abdulla of the National Conference and his father, former union minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, were detained. Separatist factors were also detained. Chaudhary Lal Singh, president of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party, was also detained.

Just two days ago, Waimco, the leader of Farrukh Abdullah's friend Dramuk, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Farooq being detained under the Public Safety Act. However, the Supreme Court rejected the application.

According to the official announcement, the leaders of the Congress, the National Conference, the PDP and the Panthers Party were released. All these leaders were detained at their residence. Outside the house, armed police were kept in plain disguise.

Messages with their outside world were also blocked. All the released leaders were also warned that they would not make any statement that would affect the law and order in the state and destroy the brotherhood.
