Farooq and Omar meet NC leaders in the midst of detention

(PTI) Kashmir, Ta. October 6, 2019, Sunday

After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Najarkad National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah met with the delegation of party leaders of Jammu on Sunday for the last two months at home.

Following this meeting, the National Conference announced the boycott of the elections to the local Swaraj. Meanwhile, the PDP delegation has been approved to meet party president Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar on Monday.

A delegation of 15 leaders, including Jammu's president Devendra Singh Rana and former MLAs of the National Conference, met with party chiefs Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on Sunday.

After the visit, the two leaders of the party made it clear that the National Conference would boycott local elections, as their entire leadership is imprisoned. Hasanain Masoodi, a party leader, said, "We went to know his insights and there was no discussion on politics."

After the national conference, the PDP delegation has also been approved to meet party president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday. The decision was taken after a few clicks of the NC delegation meeting with senior party leaders. A delegation of 18 PDP leaders will meet Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar on Monday.

Omar Abdullah was also seen taking selfies with party leaders during his visit. The delegation that met Abdullah's father and son included Devendra Singh Rana, besides Ajay Sadotra, Surjit Singh Salathia, Ratan Lal Gupta and other senior leaders.

When the delegation met Farooq Abdullah and his wife Mouli in the morning, the two welcomed him with smiles. A 15-member delegation led by Jammu's provincial president Devendra Singh Rana arrived in Srinagar on Sunday morning to meet Farooq and Omar Abdullah.

After the visit, Devendra Singh Rana said that he was glad that both Farooq and his wife Mauli were healthy. It was a pleasure to meet them after so long. Certainly he suffers from state chronology.

If the central government has initiated a political process in Jammu and Kashmir, the mainstream leaders will have to leave. Farooq Abdullah, 81, is being held at his home in Srinagar while Omar Abdullah has been detained at the State Guest House.

For the first time since the removal of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir, local Swaraj elections are being held. On the other hand, Mehbooba Mufti, both the President and Vice-President of the National Conference, as well as PDP President, are on notice. The last date to register for the election is October 9th.
