Bye-elections to BJP in 11 assembly seats

- Nine seats remain a question of reputation

- The reputation of the Yogi government is at stake

Lucknow, October 21, 2019, Monday

Eleven of the 11 assembly seats which are being held in Uttar Pradesh today, nine were in the BJP. The rest of the one sitting was BSP and flat. In today's election, the BJP's nine seats will have to be the same for the Yogi Adityanath government and the stringent test for the BJP. It is not possible for the BJP to lose even one seat in nine.

According to the Election Commission, at least 429 areas have been declared sensitive. The Commission appointed 337 Sector Magistrates, 60 Zonal Magistrates, 471 Static Magistrates and 520 Micro Observers to ensure law and order was maintained and voted in peace.

The seats being voted on today include Lucknow Cantt, Jaipur, Govindnagar, Pratapgarh, Manikpur, Balha, Ghosi, Jalalpur, Rampur, Gangoh and Eagles. If BJP wins these seats, the approval of the state government policies will have to be sealed automatically. In general, the BJP does not do very well in the by-elections.

This time it has worked to its full strength. Yogi Adityanath and Uttar Pradesh BJP president Swadesh Dev Singh are sweating profusely. If the BJP does not win, the opposition will fall on it. Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country and it also has the largest number of seats in the Lok Sabha. The Prime Minister also remained in Uttar Pradesh for three and a half decades after independence.
