BJP hopes to regain power in Maharashtra-Haryana today

Voting will be held on Monday in Maharashtra and Haryana. After the record victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and allies are expected to regain power in both states while the Opposition Congress hopes to benefit from anti-incumbency.

Along with the two state assembly elections, by-elections will be held on Monday in 51 states in 18 states and two Lok Sabha seats in the country. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led Shiv Sena and the smaller parties 'Mahayuti' are fighting against the Congress and the NCP's 'Maha Aghaadi'.

A total of 8.98 crore people in Maharashtra will vote on Monday, including 4.28 crore women. Maharashtra has 3,237 candidates in the fray, including 235 women candidates. He is contesting 288 seats in the state. There are 96,661 polling stations in the state.

BJP and Congress are all for the 99 assembly seats in Haryana. The 1.83 crore voters, including 85 lakh women, will decide the fate of 1,138 candidates. In Haryana, 19,578 polling stations have been set up. Voting will be held from 7am to 6pm in both the states and by-elections. The assembly and by-elections for both the states will be held on October 24.
