Attack on mosque in Burkina Faso, African country: 16 dead

Sixteen people have been killed in a terrorist attack on a mosque in Burkina Faso, a West African country. According to security officials, two people were critically injured.

The gunmen attacked the mosque in Salmosi on Friday evening, killing 13 people at the scene and three others later succumbing to serious injuries. Besides, two people are injured, their condition is also serious.

A person from the nearby town of Gorom Gorom confirmed the incident, saying that after the incident, the people of the town of Salmosi had left their home and had been evacuated. The gunmen who were attacked have not been identified.

By 2015, there was widespread violence in Burkina Faso, which borders the land. It also affected Niger and Mali, the neighboring country adjacent to the Burkina Passo in the north. The state of religious fanaticism and violence in Burkina Faso has been exacerbated by Islamic militants this year.

The jihadist terrorists linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State first started terror in the north, then in the east and now reach the south and west. Insurgents have killed nearly 600 people, including hit and run, road mine and suicide attacks.

Over three lakh people have left their homes due to violence and terrorism and over 3000 schools have been closed. The biggest impact has been on the rural economy.
