The rains on Saturday ravaged four states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A total of 42 people were killed in the rain-related incidents on Saturday, with the highest number of victims in Uttar Pradesh.

On the other hand, due to torrential rains in Bihar, several cities including Patna, which was flooded with cold water, created a waterlogged situation. In many hospitals in Bihar, patients were hit by water problems. Besides, the bungalows of two ministers of the Nitish government were also flooded.

The state government said 35 people lost their lives due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. In the state, 25 people were killed in various rains related incidents on Saturday.

The Met department said heavy rains are expected in the eastern parts of the state on Sunday. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, three people died in Rajasthan, while one died in Jammu and Kashmir.

Heavy rains in Bihar have lost normal life since Friday. Many areas have been affected by flooded railway traffic, health services and schools.

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushilkumar Modi, road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav and BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy's residence also became an island full of water.

The Meteorological Department had forecast heavy rainfall till September 30 in Patna. The Patna district administration has ordered that all schools be closed till Tuesday.

Nalanda Medical College Hospital, the second largest hospital in Patna, was also flooded. Likewise, the patients were also in severe trouble at Gardinibagh Hospital. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had a meeting with officials through video conference and received information regarding rain related incidents in the state.

On Friday, the state received 50 mm of rainfall while Vaishali and Nawada districts received more than 200 mm of rainfall. The district magistrate directed the NDRF and SDRF troops to move people from the waterlogged areas to safer places.

Eastern Central Railway officials said that the railway traffic was stopped at Darbhanga-Samastipur section in the morning due to heavy rains in several areas. As a result, three trains were stuck. The NDRF said its 18 teams began rescue operations in the heavily rained districts and many people were rescued.

Heavy rains also killed three people in Rajasthan. Three students were killed when a government school wall collapsed due to heavy rains in Udaipur district. The incident took place at Government Middle School in Thobawara.

The torrential rains on Friday had filled the school with freezing water. A 22-year-old woman died of lightning in Samb district of Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy rains in various parts of Jammu led to traffic jam in several areas. Himachal Pradesh received light rains on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Krishna river flowed above the danger level due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas in Karnataka and Maharashtra. Hence, the gates of several dams on the river were opened. The Met office said heavy to heavy rains are likely in northern Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra-Kutch on Sunday.

Madhya Pradesh: Three people were killed in a muddy river in the wake of heavy rains

Three people were killed, including a constable falling in a drain in Madhya Pradesh's Seoni district, police said today. The incident took place on Ghansore-Kedarpur road on Friday night.
