The first Indian-origin Sikh police officer has been shot and killed in Houston in the United States. That officer, Sandeep Dhaliwal, joined the police force 10 years ago.

America's first turbaned Sikh police officer was shot dead in Houston, Texas, on Friday. The accused fired several rounds at Sandeep Dhaliwal and he was killed.

Sandeep Dhaliwal has been working with US police for the last 10 years and after the murder the accused fled to a shopping mall. Dhaliwal stopped the accused young man's car near a traffic signal and ordered him to come out. The accused youth was sitting in the car with a female friend at that time.

After the vehicle was stopped by Dhaliwal, the accused came out of the car and shot the police officer later. After the murder, he entered a shopping mall to escape the scene. However, the police had identified the accused with the help of Dhaliwal's dashcam, and he was quick to get more details from his car number.

At present, the police have registered a murder case against the accused and seized the weapon used. Sandeep was a source of inspiration to many, and he cooperated a lot to help people in areas where the hurricane was prevalent after the hurricane.
