The arrest of Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi

Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, has been arrested in Balaspur district of the state today for allegedly giving false information in an affidavit submitted at the time of the election in 2013.

After his arrest, Amit Jogi was produced before the family court. The local court has remanded him on judicial remand for 14 days. Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) founder Ajit Jogi has termed the arrest as a retaliation. He claimed that his son had been falsely accused.

According to Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal, BJP's candidate Samira Panakra filed a police complaint against Amit Jogi at the Marwahi seat during the 2013 Chhattisgarh assembly election.

Pankara filed an FIR against Amit Jogi in February this year. According to an FIR filed at Gorela Police Station, Jogi had given false information about his birth in an affidavit submitted to the Election Commission while filling in the candidature form.

According to Pankara, he has shown his birthplace in Affidavit, the village of Sarbahra in Gokella area of ​​Bilaspur. Pankara claims that he was born in the United States.

It may be recalled that Amit Jogi had won from the Marwahi seat of Bilaspur. He defeated the wheels. This seat was reserved for the ST candidate. Police arrested him after investigating the case for six months.

He has been convicted under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to a government lawyer, he was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Aslam Khan today after his arrest.

After hearing the arguments of both parties, Judge Amit Jogi has been remanded to judicial remand for 14 days. It is worth mentioning that after losing the 2013 election, Pakara filed a petition with the Chhattisgarh High Court. In January this year, the High Court rejected the petition for saying that the term of the Chhattisgarh Assembly was completed in 2018.
