Restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Moharram

Srinagar, Ta. 9 September 2019 Monday

Curfew conditions were imposed on Sunday in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar. Tuesday is Moharram.

Authorities banned the recent removal of Moharram, and all Muslim fanatics were told that your mourning rituals should be completed in Imamwada. Authorities suspected that violence was likely to erupt when various religious communities took to the streets for Tajiya, so Tajiya was banned.

A government official said that these precautionary measures were taken to keep the peace and law and order intact in the Kashmir Valley. A month ago on August 5, the 370th clause giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir was canceled on the eve of Moharram.

The government does not want to be in any kind of neglect. A government spokeswoman said only emergency will be allowed to cross the barricade. Other than that, no one will be allowed to restrict the ban.

Thus, sanctions were relaxed for the last few days. But sanctions were once again imposed on Sunday as a precautionary measure on the eve of Moharram.
