Release of the accused accused of punching Mamata's head

Kolkata, September 13, 2019, Friday

Nearly thirty years ago, the court acquitted the so-called offender of the Trinamool Congress leader and the then West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The court said that no proper evidence could be presented to the prosecution against the alleged accused. He was the leader of the Kolkata Youth Congress when Mamata was attacked. The complaining party could not present any accurate or conclusive evidence against the accused named Lalu Alam.

That is why the court said that the file of this case is closed and Lalu Alam is freed. Additional District and Sessions Judge Puspal Satpati said the court closed the case by accepting the request made by the complaining party to close the file itself. And Lalu frees Alam.

Prosecutor Radhakant Mukherjee said after hearing the defense lawyer and Lalu Alam, the court came to the conclusion that there was not enough evidence in the case, some of the so-called witnesses had also gone to heaven and hence Lalu Alam could be released.

When Mamata Youth was the Congress leader, she was attacked on August 16, 1990 and severely injured. He had to stay in the hospital for several days for treatment. Twelve thirteen people were involved in the attack. Lalu Alam was out on bail as most of the so-called attackers did not survive today. Now he was freed.
