Modi does not talk about Zakir Naik's extradition: Malaysian PM

New Delhi, September 17, 2019, Tuesday

Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed on Tuesday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not introduce Zakir Naik's extradition. Although, on the other hand, these claims were found to be false, the central government responding in turn said that Zakir Naik's extradition was introduced.

Zakir Naik, 53, is currently in Malaysia, leaving India in 2016 and moving to Malaysia. An anti-India lecturer, who has also been associated with terrorists, has taken action against Zakir Naik.

In the midst of this situation, it is currently Malaysia, but Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed claimed that we have not been introduced to Zakir Naik's extradition by the Indian government.

However, the reply was given by Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue only when he met the Prime Minister of Malaysia. So Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed said that I had met Narendra Modi in Russia.

The meeting was held earlier this month at the Economic Forum organized here. During which neither Modi nor any other Indian official had any conversation with Zakir Naik for extradition. However, Jayashankar said with the date that the appeal for Zakir Naik's extradition was made only in January last year. India has officially demanded extradition.

That is to say that lies are being spread by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, there is a possibility that Malaysia wants to cover Zakir Naik and recent statements also suggest that Zakir Naik's extradition may prove to be more difficult for India in the coming days. Zakir Naik started an NGO in Mumbai and obtained funds which he used for terrorist activities and was also involved in obtaining funds.
