Lucknow heavy rains, life stalled

Lucknow Sat.27 September Friday

In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, life was stalled due to heavy rains in the last two days and schools were closed on Friday for the second consecutive day.

The rain, which started Wednesday night, continued throughout the day on Thursday and was also raining on Friday morning. The water was full. Regional Weather Office chief JP Gupta predicted heavy rains for another two to three days.

The district administration announced the closure of schools by Saturday. Three persons were reported to have died when a cottage collapsed on Friday in Baroli village of Nimamatabad in Chandauli. On the one hand there was heavy rain, on the other hand starting from the VIP areas and the slums of the poor, there was lightning as the electricity was missing. The traffic jam was created as the roads were filled with water.

The announcement of the sub-safe by the town corporations proved bogus. In many areas of Lucknow, water was poured into people's homes. The house was waterlogged. There was no way out. On two storeys high, people climbed to the ground. In areas such as Bhavaniganj, Saadatganj and Rajaji Puram, scenes of the flowing lakes were created. Several parcels of water were badly damaged in the parcel section at the railway station.

In areas like Kamala Market, Kanshiram Colony and Mayapuri Colony, Babbay also filled three to three feet of water.
