Let nothing tamper with our Kannada language: Yeddyurappa

Bangalore, Ta. September 16, 2019, Monday

BJP president Amit Shah had said a few days ago that only one language should be applied to Hindi across the country. However, Amit Shah's arguments were rejected by the Karnataka leader of his own party, BJP Karnataka.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said that no compromise could be made with Kannada language in Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa tweeted that every language is the same in our country, but as far as Karnataka is concerned, Kannada is the main language and we are not ready to compromise under any circumstances. We are also committed to giving importance to the culture of Kannada and the state. The information was provided by the Karnataka Chief Minister's Office.

Amit Shah tweeted on Hindi day and said that the whole country should have one language, and it is also necessary that the language should be recognized in India. Amit Shah favored the implementation of Hindi language throughout the country.

However, Hindi is less common in South India and there is more spoken language like Gujarat and in the government works, the language is used. Amid this situation, the advice given by Amit Shah has been opposed by the BJP leader.

Actor and politician Kamal Haasan has also jumped into the controversy. Kamal Haasan tweeted that no one could break the promise made by Amit Shah in 1950.

Issuing a video, Kamal Haasan said that when India became a republic in 1950, it was promised that the language and culture of every region would be honored and protected. No Shah, Sultan or Emperor can suddenly break this promise.
