Hafiz Syed, president of the terrorist organization Jamaat-ud-Dawa, has been declared a global terrorist. In 2008, the UN Security Council declared a ban on it and in 2009 also issued a Red Corner Notice in the name of Interpol.

Pakistan's claims of Hafiz Syed being jailed more than once proved false. On August 5, India canceled the 370th Article canceling the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, after which Pakistan had privately released Hafiz from jail.
