If necessary I will go to Jammu and Kashmir: Chief Justice

The new PIL will no longer be accepted after eight petitions have been heard on 370 issues: Supreme

(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. September 16, 2019, Monday

The Supreme Court had considered eight petitions challenging the government's decision to cancel Article 370. The Supreme Court agreed to hear 370 cancellation requests. However, it also made it clear that not a single PIL would be accepted on the issue.

Jammu and Kashmir petitions of Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sitaram Yechury and Waiko etc. were heard. In connection with Ghulam Nabi Azad's petition, the Supreme Court allowed Azad to go to six districts of Kashmir. The Supreme Court, however, insisted that there should be a meeting with the people. Not to address political rallies.

The bench of three judges, headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, conducted the hearing. The Supreme Court said that Azad would go to six districts of Kashmir to find out about the plight of the people and work for their well-being.

Azad said that he would go to Kashmir as per the directive of the Supreme Court and report the status of the matter to the Supreme. The Supreme Court has sought the central government's response to the Kashmir issue. The government claimed that only small sanctions were imposed in certain sensitive areas of Kashmir. Apart from that, the stability of Kashmir is under control.

The government told the Supreme that even newspapers are running in Kashmir and no sanctions have been imposed. Apart from newspapers, television, radio and other media are also employed. The Supreme has urged the government to take steps and report the situation quickly.

CPI-M leader Mohammed Yusuf allowed Tirgami to go to the home state of Kashmir. The Supreme said the former MLA does not need anyone's permission to go home. If Aimes' doctors let him go, he would be able to go home.

The Supreme Court has complained that people of Jammu and Kashmir are being barred from going to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. After that, the Chief Justice said that if that really happened and needed, I would visit Jammu and Kashmir myself.
