Historic 'Howdy Modi' event: Houston will resonate with slogans of 'Namo Again'

Indian-Americans ready to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the 'Howdy Modi' mega event on Sunday. More than 50,000 Indian-Americans will be present at the event, making it the largest program of any elected foreign leader who will visit the United States after the Pope. US President Donald Trump will also join Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the three-and-a-half-hour event held at NRG Stadium, one of America's largest football stadiums.

Indian Ambassador Harsh Shrongala visited NRG Stadium on Friday with his team and conducted a review of the program's management. Over 1500 volunteers are working 24 hours to make the 'Howdy Modi' program in the stadium the most memorable and historic.

The organizers are very excited to welcome PM Modi wholeheartedly with the slogan 'Namo Agyen'. Howdy Modi program organizers Texas India Forum (TIF) spokesman Priti Dawra, Gitesh Desai and Rishi Bhutada informed the media about the event. He also spoke about why Houston was selected for the Howdy Modi program.

He said the event was a grand celebration of the unity and culture of America and India. When more than three million Indian Americans are believed to be living in the United States, Modi will make a statement to further strengthen relations between India and the United States and present his vision on India's continuing development.

For the first time in the world, the two largest democracy leaders will take to the stage in such an event. They will highlight the prosperity of India-America through increased geographical partnerships, commitment to global peace and entrepreneurship.

The presence of these two leaders is indicative of the growing influence of Indian Americans in the United States and the invaluable contribution of Indian Americans to Texas and America's development, Dawra said, adding that President Trump's participation in the event highlights his goodwill and friendship with the Indian Prime Minister. The program will also feature prominent American government leaders, including senators, governors, mayors, along with Trump.

The Howdy Modi program is about cultural solidarity and will bring America, India and Texas closer, Dawra said. Howdy Modi is a community summit program organized by the contributions of more than 600 organizations and over 1,000 volunteers. The program will feature Indian Americans from all 50 states in the United States.

Indian Americans are not only the most educated and influential society in America, but they are known for their service to all sectors, including military medicine and education, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs and they are renowned for enabling the American economy.

The doors of the NRG Stadium will open at 6.00am and the program will start at 9.00am (8.30pm, Indian time). After that the cultural program will start and run till 10.30. The program will be broadcast live in Hindi, English and Spanish. Prime Minister Modi and President Trump will address after the cultural program. The event will conclude at 12.30pm.

Taxpayers' money is not spent on 'Howdy Modi' program: Indian Ambassador

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 'Howdy Modi' program in Houston, Texas on Sunday. Regarding the program, Ambassador Harshvardhan Shrongla has said that the taxpayers' money has not been spent for this program. Indian Ambassador to the US, Shrungla, said that Indian society has provided funds for the program. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the central government on the issue of economic downturn in the country. He led the Howdy Economy hashtag. Rahul Gandhi wrote that the Prime Minister is ready to do anything to boost the stock market, even when his hashtag is going on at the Howdyndian Economy Festival. In this tweet, Rahul Gandhi linked the fiscal deficit of 1.45 lakh crore from the government with 'Howdy Modi'. He wrote that Howdy Modi was going to be the most expensive event in the world.

Trump will meet Imran on Monday in New York and Modi on Tuesday

US President Donald Trump will meet Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan during a UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, after attending the 'Howdy Modi' program in Houston on Sunday. The meeting with the leaders of both India and Pakistan will be held in New York during the 74th UN General Assembly. Trump will arrive in New York after participating in the Howdy Modi program in Houston. On Monday, Trump will meet with Imran Khan as part of a bilateral meeting with leaders of different countries. Trump will address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and then attend a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi.
