Facebook suspended over 10,000 apps after privacy review

San Francisco, CA September 21, 2019, Saturday

Social media giant Facebook said on Friday that it had suspended more than 10,000 apps on its platform. The company has taken this step as a result of the Privacy Review.

Facebook launches a privacy review campaign following the Cambridge Analytica scandal. In the year of 2018, Facebook was accused of selling and using user data outside of their data. That led to Zuckerberg, the Facebook owner, also appearing before an American MP. Facebook has suspended more than ten thousand apps from 400 developers.

Although Facebook has stated that it is not that these apps were harmful to the people, some developers did not provide the information Facebook asked for. This app has been suspended for many different reasons. An app is still under investigation for what is suspected.

Facebook wrote in a blog post that the privacy review process has not yet been completed. Many of these apps were apps that did not work so they have been suspended. Facebook has completely banned some apps. Facebook launched the App Developer Investigation Program following the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

In the year of 2018, Facebook acknowledged that the Cambridge Analytica Company had stolen data from millions of Facebook users. Cambridge Analytica is a political consulting firm that worked for Donald Trump in the year of 2016. He used Facebook to steal data from Facebook users.

Zuckerberg on Facebook also apologized for this. After the scandal surfaced, Facebook said it would review all the apps on its platform and find out which app used the data. As part of this review, these ten thousand apps have been suspended.
