New delhi date. September 26, 2019

The door was opened to two advisers who were constantly in the Economic Advisory Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Economic Advisory Committee was officially announced. The term of the new committee will be two years.

This committee is an independent unit which has been advising the Prime Minister on economic matters. Earlier, an important member of this committee, Dr. Surjit Bhalla, resigned from the committee. This time Rathin Roy and Shamik Ravi were shown the door.

Rathin Roy is the Director of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy. Earlier, it had criticized the saffron brigade on the issue of deficit in the government treasury. He also criticized the government's announcement of a budget to allocate money through sovereign bonds from foreign markets.

Shamik Ravi is acting as the Brookings Indiana Director of Research. Earlier this month, he blamed former President Pranab Mukherjee's retrospective tax for the economic downturn and the Supreme Court's decision to cancel allocation of coal mines.

Following the deliberations, Vivek S Debroy is the chair of this committee. The previous committee member, Ratan P Vatal, was continued.
