Delhi: Millions raised from old age account

Delhi Police has arrested a gang of thugs who have collected over Rs 100 crore worth of fraudulent money from thousands of elders by fraud.

These people used to get their bank account details from the elderly on the pretext of linking the bank account or telephone with the Aadhaar card. Thereafter, he used to hide his money by changing the location on his documents.

Police arrested Alimuddin Ansari of Jharkhand and Manoj Yadav of Azamgarh and seized 81 debit cards, 104 checkbooks, 130 passbooks, eight mobile phones, 31 SIM cards, copies of different ID proofs etc. from different banks.

Alimuddin was speaking by the police after receiving a third degree. This is how he described his modus operandi. He used to give some money to poor people and opened an account with his ID. The money was then transferred from the account of the victim himself to the account. Thus, the gang had opened a total of 1100 accounts in different banks.

Manoj Yadav used to give two thousand rupees to the poor people working hard to open an account in a bank. Then these people misused the ID proof. They used to bring people to Aadhaar card agents and change their labor address. They were opening an account in the bank based on this incorrect address.

Manoj gave his mobile number to the bank. Thereafter, he used to transfer money from the account of old people to this account. Didn't realize right away because the address was bogus.

These people continued to work in such a way that their hunting was not realized. But the cup of sin was consumed. It should be remembered here that banks and police have been constantly instructing that no one should give details of your bank account number, debit card number, mobile number or SIM card etc.
