INBI Media case: CBI ex-finance minister P Chidambaram has been arrested. While he is currently in CBI custody, his custody was extended on Monday and he will remain in CBI custody for one more day. The court will also hear Chidambaram's interim bail application on Tuesday.

Chidambaram's case is being tried in a Delhi court. Chidambaram will have to remain in CBI custody for one more day, besides hearing his interim bail application, which will be held at three and a half hours on Tuesday. The apex court had on August 30 sent Chidambaram into custody for three more days, which was to expire on Monday. As a result, they have been remanded in custody for one more day.

The CBI had in the court opposed to any relief to Chidambaram and asked to extend custody. On August 21, the CBI arrested Chidambaram. Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal has applied for his interim bail.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought time to respond to the petition. Meanwhile, Chidambaram's plea was also heard in the Supreme Court, during which Kapil Sibal argued that Chidambaram should be granted bail as he is 73 years old and could not be imprisoned at this age.

Later, the Supreme Court told the lower court that Chidambaram's interim bail should be considered. Indrani has accused Chidambaram of killing his own daughter and based on Indrani's statement, the entire case came up against him. However, there is no evidence against his allegations so far and Chidambaram is claiming in his defense that he has been arrested only for harassing me and for impersonating me.
