Bumrah has made history: the third Indian to score a hat trick in Tests

Kingston, Ta. September 1, 2019, Sunday

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made history in the second Test against the West Indies. Bumrah scored a catch in the ninth over of the Windies in the ninth over, catching Darren Bravo by Rahul. Brooks was then dismissed leg-before. On the third ball, he completed a hat-trick with Chase getting the leg-out wicket out.

With this he became only the third bowler to hit India in Test cricket. Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan have achieved such success. Harbhajan had a quick hat-trick in 2001 against Australia in Kolkata and Irfan against Pakistan in 2006 in Karachi.

Significantly, Bumrah appealed to Chase in the form of a third wicket, which the umpire rejected. However, Captain Kohli approached the third umpire seeking review and the chase was declared as Bumrah's hat-trick was completed.

Bumrah, with a hat-trick, was just six wickets to give the West Indies batsmen only 27 runs. In the second innings of the first Test against the Windies, Bumrah was still five wickets short of seven runs.

He became the first bowler to score five wickets in less than 10 runs. Bumrah's flat-footed India's first innings of 416 against the score of 416 was only dismissed by 117 runs.

Bumrah, the fast bowler from Ahmedabad, who has made international appearances, has already completed 60 wickets in the 12th Test of his career. For the fifth time in this test he had five or more wickets.
