BJP committed to attract backward classes in Haryana

Chandigarh, Ta. September 19, 2019 Thursday

The BJP is gearing up to win 17 backward class seats in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections and is preparing to attract backward class voters.

The BJP is preparing to take advantage of the fact that Mayawati and BSP are stuck alone after the Lok Sabha elections. BJP is planning to win 75 seats in Haryana assembly, with 17 seats belonging to backward voters.

In the 2014 election, the BJP won eight of the 17 reserve seats. This time it is seventeen to win seventeen. BJP general secretary and Haryana BJP in-charge Anil Jain said, "This time we have to win all the reserve seats."

On Tuesday, Jain addressed a rally with BJP acting president JP Nadda in Kharasauda in the Jhajjar area of Haryana.

In Haryana, 19 per cent of the total voters are backward. Until 2009, Mayawati and BSP had a strong hold on this class. For the first time in 2009, the BSP received only two seats in the legislature. Only got one seat in 2014. It is understood that BSP's hold on the backward voters of Haryana has been loosened and the BJP is eager to take advantage of it.
