9th resignation including Tripura Congress vice president

Agartala, Ta. 26 September 2019 Thursday

Nine Congressmen, including the Vice-President of the Tripura Congress, were reported to have resigned from the party. The nine have also resigned from the party in support of the resignation of former Congress President Pradyut Kishore Devbaram.

In the resignation of Pradyut Kishore, it was alleged that the party's Mowdy board advised us to compromise on the NRC issue which we did not accept.

The state Congress demanded that the NRC be implemented in Tripura as in Assam and other border states. Some Congress leaders were protesting against this, and these Congress leaders and activists complained to the Mowdy congregation to stop these people from moving forward.

The Mowdy congregation, ie the acting chairperson Sonia Gandhi, ordered Pradyut Kishore and others to compromise with the Congress leaders and workers who were opposing the NRC.

Against this order, Pradev Kishore resigned and said that instead of compromising with corrupt leaders, I prefer to resign from the party.

A total of nine resigned, including Pradeep Kishore, vice president of the state Congress and eight others. Tripura is likely to lose the nomination of Congress if the internal tensions do not stop. However, the impact is very unlikely at the national level.
