The way the courts are working is worrying: Sibal and Sanghavi also showered on the Supreme Court

New Delhi, Aug 22, 2019, Thursday

Angry with the arrest of former finance minister P Chidambaram, the Congress leaders have been forgetting to speak. Chidambaram's lawyers and senior Congress leaders Kapil Sibal and Manu Abhishek Sanghvi also criticized the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. He said the way the courts were working was worrying.

Sibal alleged that a Delhi High Court judge, who rejected Chidambaram's anticipatory bail application, withheld the application from January last month, and denied himself when he had two days to retire. He is suspected to have done so to gain publicity in the media. The timing of denial of bail application is important here. Judgment given at 3.25pm. If we applied for bail at four o'clock, they refused, so we could not even go to the Supreme Court. The way these judgments are made is an act of concern.

Speaking about the Supreme Court, Sibal said that the Supreme Court asked to go to the Chief Justice. The Supreme Court's handbook clearly states that if the Chief Justice is a Bizi, his next Senior Judge can take up the application. But he didn't. The registrar of the Supreme Court said that the Chief Justice will hear the hearing at 4 pm. He is currently busy hearing the Ayodhya case. At four o'clock it was not time to take up our application. Thus the way the courts work is becoming worrying.
