Supreme Court hearing CBI-ED case on Monday

The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim relief from the arrest of the Congress leader in the money laundering case filed by ED in the INX Media case and agreed to hear the CBI and ED's case together on Monday, August 5th. However, the Supreme Court refusing to intervene in the CBI custody in the case, former Union Minister Chidambaram will remain under CBI custodial inquiry till Monday.

On the other hand, in a complaint filed by the ED and the CBI in the Aircel-Maxis case, the Delhi court on Friday extended interim protection from arrest of former Union Minister Chidambaram and his son Karti and reserved their judgment on the anticipatory bail application till then. Judges r. Bhanumati and A. S. A bench comprising Bopanna adjourned the matter till Monday, August 7.

After hearing the arguments of petitioner Chidambaram's lawyers and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, we believe that co-accused's bail was granted in the ED case of INX Media. ED cannot arrest the applicant until further hearing in this case. Both ED and CBI will be able to present their answers and arguments on Monday.

After giving a verdict in the case, Tushar Mehta gave a cover of documents to the court in a seal cover and said that the bench could examine Chidambaram's seriousness before issuing a restraining order. However, the bench, refusing to accept the documents, asked Mehta to submit it on Monday.

During the hearing of the case, there was intense discussion between Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and senior advocate and Chidambaram's associates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Mehta strongly opposed the order granting Chidambaram relief from arrest in the money laundering case filed by the ED. Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that Chidambaram had asked him to take care of his son Karti when the then promoters Peter Peter and Indrani Mukherjee of INX Media Group approached him on FIPB approval.

He said that during the investigation, the ED found that Chidambaram had 5 fixed assets and 1 bank account abroad. Most surprisingly, the people who created the shell companies in the name of the people made a will in the name of Chidambaram's granddaughter. Chidambaram's custodial inquiry is required to expose the scam.

Sibal and Singhvi said that they have filed a separate petition challenging the order of the special judge allowing CBI for custody of Chidambaram. Sibley said the High Court had copied the note submitted by the ED directly in its order and did not offer the applicants the opportunity to argue the note. Chidambaram was hearing two separate petitions challenging the Delhi High Court's August 8 ruling in the Supreme Court. The Delhi High Court rejected Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea in the case.

Digvijay Singh's brother's gift

Congress lawyers could not save Chidambaram

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh's brother Laxman Singh criticized the party's leaders on Friday. He said that the only leaders and lawyers of the party were former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has failed to get court relief.

Congress leaders Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi are among the lawyers defending Chidambaram, but he could not bail out the Congress leader in the INX media case or prevent his arrest. Congress MLA Laxman Singh said that I hope Chidambaram will come out innocent and keep the party's image clean.

Demands for repeated hearing in Aircel-Maxis case annoying to me: Judge knocks out ED

Delhi court also granted interim relief to Chidambaram

(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. ૨૩

In the Aircel-Maxis case filed by the CBI and ED, the Delhi court granted interim relief from Chidambaram and his son Karti on Friday till September 3rd and reserved their anticipatory bail till the verdict. However, the Special Judge OP requested the ED and the CBI to hold a hearing in the case frequently. The soldier objected, saying that for me this was a shocking thing.

ED and CBI have requested Delhi court to postpone hearing of the Aircel-Maxis case as the case relating to Chidambaram and his son was reserved in the Supreme Court in the INX Media case. The Delhi court reserved the verdict on Chidambaram's anticipatory bail application on September 3 and extended interim relief from his arrest till then.
