Russia has been training astronauts for India's common space mission 'Gagyan'.

India has decided to send its astronauts to space in 2022. It was announced by PM Modi on August 15 last year from Red Fort.

ISRO Chairman K Sivan said that India has sent 12 persons to Russia for training for the project. Four of these will be selected by Russia for advanced training.

Recently, National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval held a meeting with the Director General of Russia's space agency Roskosmos on a trip to Russia.

Following the training of astronauts in Russia, the mission will be prepared for Mission Back in India during the remaining months before launch from December 2021 to 2022.

Russia has previously launched similar space missions, which has helped India obtain Russia's assistance. It is studied a number of times before the actual mission. Equally important is the choice of what kind of standards to have.
