New controversy arises in Karnataka: Kumar Swamy tapping phones of leaders-journalists

Bangalore, Ta. Saturday 17th August 2019

A new controversy has arisen in Karnataka. JDU's HD Kumaraswamy, who had lost power for not getting a vote of confidence just two weeks ago, was shocked when it came out that he was tapping the phones of state leaders, police officers and journalists.

In fact, this was the result of a disagreement between two Bengaluru police officers. Some clips of Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao's phone were given to the media. Following this, Congress leader Siddaramaiah, former Home Minister MB Patil, Mallikarjun Khadge and former Home Minister and BJP leader R Ashok demanded an inquiry into the case.

The present Chief Minister Yeddyurappa called on the Chief Secretary and ordered to present all the details of the incident to him. Considering that his government was in danger, Kumar Swamy ordered the phone call of political leaders, mediamen and police officers from November 2018 to keep himself informed of what was happening.
