Naxalite and Kashmir's military action against terrorists impacting children: UN

United Nations, Ta. August 3, 2019, Saturday

India has disputed the report of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, saying that the actions taken by the Indian Army and security forces in Naxal-affected areas and Jammu and Kashmir affect the children's brains.

In a UN annual report, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the clashes with the armed forces in India made young children nervous and affected their psyche.

However, India's first Secretary of State at the United Nations, Palomie Tripathi, expressed his displeasure at the report, taking part in Friday's open debate, saying that what was mentioned in the report was a threat to international peace and security.

He expressed his displeasure, saying such reports signaled a relaxed agenda. Such stories are designed to divert attention from other problems and dangers around the world.

He said that there is no war situation in India at present or that this threatens the international community. Such efforts give a special kind of political color. He also emphasized the credible, fair and transparent procedures of the mandate given to the United Nations system, saying that its functioning is very commendable.

It is worth mentioning that in its report issued on Tuesday, the UN had negatively mentioned the clashes between the anti-Naxal operations in India and the action taken by the army in Jammu and Kashmir.
