Justice Qureshi to take decision in a week: Central Government guarantees Supreme Court

The central government said in the Supreme Court that we will respond within one week on the issue of the promotion of Justice Akil Qureshi as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. We are studying the file sent to us by the collegium.

Addressing a divisional bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SA Bobde and Justice S Abdul Nazir, Tushar Mehta said that the central government would take a decision on the recommendation of the collegium within a week.

Following the release of Tushar Mehta, the Supreme Court adjourned the ongoing hearing on the issue and announced that the matter will proceed in this regard at the next hearing.
