Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram was found to be raising eyebrows at the Enforcement Directorate. The department is also investigating the details of Chidambaram's Rs 300 crore capital investment.
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board has approved companies such as Chidambaram's Ishaar Diego Scotland Limited, Katara Holdings, Essar Steel Limited and Alforge Limited. At present, the Enforcement Directorate is also examining all these companies. INX Media Case found evidence that money was stopped at bogus companies. Most of the bogus companies are from Karti, son of Chidambaram. Chidambaram is also alleged to have taken Rs 300 crore in bribe from Aircel Maxis and INX Media.
He will be produced in court today. Chidambaram's son Karti described the operation as a political conspiracy against his father.
