An Indian farmer who returned home 45 days ago after failing to find a job in Dubai won $ 40 million (about Rs 27.86 crore) on Saturday with the help of a raffle lottery ticket.
The farmer had borrowed 20,000 rupees from his wife to buy this lottery ticket and the door to her fate opened as she won the first prize. According to a Gulf News news release, the man named Vilas Rikkala currently lives in Hyderabad and won the first prize of $ 15 million dirham, ie $ 40.08 million, at the Big Ticket Raffle.
Rikkala left the United Arab Emirates 45 days ago due to no job in Dubai and returned to her home country. On Saturday, he was reported to have been declared the winner in the prize so that his family had a happy atmosphere.
Vilas and his wife work as farm laborers in India and earn about Rs 3 lakh annually by working in rice fields. Rikkala previously lived in Dubai and worked as a driver.
Vilas, a resident of Jakranpalli village in Nizamabad district, has two daughters and during the two years he was working in the UAE, he bought several lottery tickets, including the Dubai Shopping Festival raffle ticket. He returned to India due to no job in Dubai, and after borrowing Rs 20,000 from his wife, he asked his friend Ravi, who works in Abu Dhabi, to buy a ticket.
Ravi bought three tickets in the name of Vilas and his fate was gone. Vilas gave credit to his wife Padma for all the happiness he received because he could buy the ticket only with the money he had borrowed.
