Rahul Gandhi has resigned from the post of Congress president. The party is now seeking a new president. In the meantime, a meeting of the Working Committee of the Congress is scheduled to be held on August 10th.

Though Rahul Gandhi's resignation had not been completed yet, Congress leaders, who did not want any new president, were also raising questions and expressed concern that the CVC meeting is going to be held on August 10 next.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that the present party should select an interim president and later elections should be held for the post in which the party will have to select its president. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said the party has decided to hold the next meeting of the CVC on August 10th.

This meeting is going to be held for the first time since Rahul Gandhi left office. Earlier, another Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Karan Singh, expressed concern over the lack of top leadership. Some other leaders have also resigned after Rahul Gandhi resigned. Whose resignation is yet to be decided.

Only when Rahul Gandhi resigned, he said that none of the Gandhi family should be appointed as president. So there is a possibility that this position can be assigned to anyone other than the Gandhi family. However, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Shashi Tharoor had demanded Priyanka Gandhi to be the president.
