Former South African President Jakob Juma, before facing the charges of corruption, said before the investigating committee that he had asked the Gupta family to start 'alternative means' in the country, due to which the Gupta family of Indian origin could raise the media empire. Former President Zuma was forced to resign in February 2018. He was speaking to the committee investigating the corruption initiated during his tenure.

Investigations against 77-year-old Juma have put more emphasis on their relations with the Gupta family. The Gupta family was accused of changing the decision of who to take and who was dropped in the Cabinet. In addition, using the class, many attractive tenders were also received by the family. Juma said to the committee headed by Judge Zondo, "I was called corruption shirom. I was defamed," he said.

During the rule of Juma, the entire country was accused of being harassed. He said that African National Congress-ANC- tried to make some media alternative medium, but this work has never been successful despite being partnered with others.

Juma said that he had suggested starting a newspaper that the ANC accepted. The Gupta family was contacted for this reason. After that, he and ANC's General Secretary Gwendt Munshat met the Gupta family and discussed the news. Then he also started a TV channel.
