Efforts to remove 35-A from Kashmir are similar to setting ammunition on fire: Mehbooba

(PTI) Srinagar, Ta. July 28, 2019, Sunday

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday warned the Center to remove Article 2A of the constitution and said that the idea of compromising the state's special status or identity is like playing with fire.

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) celebrated its 7th Foundation Day on Sunday. Addressing the workers of the PDP on the occasion, party president Mehbooba Mufti said that the hand which would tamper with Article 3A, the whole body would be burnt to ashes.

Mehbooba Mufti said that Article 1 gives special status to the state and special privileges to the permanent residents of the state. We warn the central government that even thinking of trying to eliminate this clause is like picking up ammunition. We will protect Kashmir till the last breath. PDP will never end.

The people who were martyred for Kashmir need to be remembered. We need to be ready for a big fight. The election comes and goes, but the real fight is to fight to maintain the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. We are ready to fight at any rate to maintain this status of the state. Today, Kashmir Valley has an atmosphere of fear. Jammu and Kashmir Bank has been terminated. They want to slowly destroy everything.

Mehbooba Mufti said, "We have told the Center that Dineshwar Sharma should be made a moderate. We scheduled a ceasefire in Ramzan. This has never happened before. We hoped for a good result, but nothing like this happened from the other party. Trump says Imran Khan and Narendra Modi are also saying that the Kashmir issue will be resolved. Mufti Saeed also wanted peace and negotiation. '
