Washington, Ta. July 21, 2019, Sunday

Americans are facing black heat for the second consecutive day on Sunday. Daytime temperatures reached 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees F) in most cities in the United States.

Heatwave has an effect on areas from the Mediterranean plains to the Atlantic coast. More than 200 million people will be hit by the east coast of New York, Washington and Boston and the Midwest region. Heatway killed three people during a week in Maryland.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the heat wave, which began Saturday with a high pressure system created by tropical air on the Atlantic coast, would last until Sunday.

Heat warnings and advisories have been declared in two-thirds of the country. The NWS issued a special warning to people in the Washington and Baltimore areas, where temperatures are forecast to reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit by Sunday. Heat stress or heat stroke conditions can occur if not monitored due to high temperature and humidity.

People have been warned to be vigilant and to not leave children and animals in the car as long as possible. Three people lost their lives due to a heatwave in Maryland over the weekend.

Former NFL player Mitch Petrus, 31, of Arkansas, was killed due to a heatstroke while working out his shop. Heavy warnings have also been issued in eastern Canada. New York City has opened up to 500 cooling centers to protect residents from heat. Mayor Bill de Blasio said the situation was going to be horrible this Saturday and Sunday.

People take care of themselves. Avoid heating in the heat if not needed. Detroit recorded 105 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday. At that time, more than 200,000 people were left without heat due to power lines being broken down by a recent hurricane.

The heat was observed for three days in July 1995 when a heatwave killed more than 700 people. The temperature in Chicago at that time was 36.1 degrees Celsius. The dead mostly included the poor, the elderly, and those living alone. Heavy heat was also reported in the tropical area.

Even in tropical areas like Hawaii, people were warmed. June is the second hottest month in Alaska, America since 1925. A similar situation has been observed in Mexico. In Boston, too, on Saturday and Sunday, after heavy heat, the entry fee of the public pools was canceled, so that a large number of people spent time in the public pool for heat relief.

However, Americans are likely to experience heat relief Monday after a hectic weekend. Temperatures can drop below freezing in many parts of Central America and the Midwest. The east coast will see a chilly breeze from Monday.

Due to the heat, programs were closed in several places

The New York City Triathlon, held in New York on Sunday, has been canceled for the first time since its inception in 2001. Meanwhile, the two-day OZY Fest - Food, Comedy and Music Festival - was also canceled in Central Park.
