CM Maryam Nawaz has included Ramesh Singh Arora in the cabinet of Punjab Province of Pakistan. Aroda was elected MLA for the third time from Narowal district in the recently held assembly elections. He is the first minister from Pakistan's minority Sikh community. Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan.

48-year-old Sardar Ramesh Singh Aroda said, 'After the partition of 1947, a Sikh person has been included in the cabinet of Punjab province for the first time. Apart from Sikhs, I will work for the protection of all minorities including Hindus, Christians living in Pakistan.'
Who is Ramesh Singh Arora?
Ramesh Singh Aroda was born on 11-October-1974 in the town of Nankana Sahib. He received his bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship and SME Management from Government College University, Lahore. He contributed to the World Bank's poverty alleviation program in Pakistan before entering politics. He founded the Mojaj Foundation in 2008 to help the underprivileged in Pakistan. Assembly elections were recently held in Pakistan, in which Aroda has been elected as an MLA from his native Narowal district. He was appointed as the ambassador of Kartarpur Corridor last year.
Did not go to India because of friendship
He said, 'My family chose to live in Pakistan instead of India during the partition of 1947. I was born in Nankana Sahib, but then we moved to Narowal. My grandfather chose to stay in Pakistan at the time of partition on the advice of a Muslim friend. My family decided to stay there only for friendship.'
