India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, said at the informal meeting of the 78th session in New York that there is an urgent need for necessary reforms in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). He said that the discussion on this amendment is going on for more than a decade but there is no result. Kamboj said that almost 25 years have passed. The world and our future generations cannot wait any longer. How long will he have to wait?
Heed the voice of young and future generations
Ruchira Kamboj said that we must advance reforms by heeding the voices of young and future generations, including in Africa where the demand to correct historical injustices is growing stronger. He said that if this is not done, we will send the Parishad on the path of anonymity and irrelevance. Cambodia proposed a more inclusive approach. It suggested that limiting the scope of UNAC to non-permanent members only would risk increasing inequality in its constitution. He emphasized the need for representative and equal participation within its framework for the legitimacy of the conference.

Ruchira Kamboj also emphasized that the veto power should not be a hindrance to the reform process of the Council. He called for a soft stance on the issue for constructive dialogue and said the new permanent members should not use the veto pending a decision during the review.
Brazil, Japan and Germany reiterated India's call
India's G4 partners - Brazil, Japan and Germany reiterated India's call for greater representation in the non-permanent category, stressing the importance of diversity of thought and plurality among the 193 member states. Ruchira Kamboj advised identifying those particular groups or countries that deserve special attention in the reform process and their voices should be carefully listened to.
Britain supported India's proposals
The United Kingdom, which is a permanent member of the Council. He also tweeted in support of India's reform proposal. Britain tweeted that the Security Council should be more representative of today's world. We support its scope and would like to see a more diverse, influential council. The G4 countries Brazil, Germany, India and Japan should have permanent seats and permanent representation for them.
