Ministers, speak your mind, if you have to speak...' PM Modi's message in the cabinet meeting

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 : A cabinet meeting was held today at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in Delhi's Chanakyapuri area. The meeting which started at 10.00 am was held till 9.30 pm, in which ministers were also present besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister advised all the ministers to avoid controversial statements and not to speak too much. The Prime Minister told all the members of the Cabinet that, 'Speak with understanding. Be careful with deep fakes. If you want to speak, speak on the government's schemes, but avoid making controversial statements. I asked the Rajya Sabha MPs in my cabinet to contest the next Lok Sabha elections.'

Seven Union Ministers are also in the election fray

It is to be mentioned that the first list of 195 Lok Sabha candidates (BJP Candidate List) was announced by BJP on Saturday, March 2. In this list, BJP has decided to field seven present Rajya Sabha MPs who are Union Ministers. These seven MPs are Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna seat of Madhya Pradesh), Mansukh Mandaviya (Porbandar seat of Gujarat), Bhupendra Yadav (Alwar seat of Rajasthan), Rajeev Chandrasekhar (Tivuvananthapuram seat of Kerala), Sarbanand Sonowal (Dibrugarh seat of Assam), Parasottam Rupala (Rajkot seat of Gujarat). And V. Muralidharan (Attingal seat of Kerala) is going to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

47 candidates under the age of 50 in the list

The BJP list includes names of candidates from 16 states and two Union Territories. The first list of 195 candidates that BJP has announced includes the names of 28 women candidates. In terms of age, there are 47 candidates below 50 years of age in this list. The list includes names of 57 OBC candidates, 27 from Schedule Caste (SC), 18 from Schedule Tribe (ST).

Names of candidates are included for 5 seats from Jammu and Kashmir, 3 from Uttarakhand, 2 from Arunachal, 1 from Goa, 1 from Tripura, 1 from Andaman, Daman and Diu.

MPs with bad report card 'no repeat'!

Through its first list, the Bhagwadhari Party has sent a strong message to sitting MPs whose performance has not been up to expectations. However, in the first list, the BJP has focused more on the seats that it lost in the 2019 elections. BJP has changed its candidates on some of the seats it won in the last Lok Sabha elections. The biggest example is Delhi seats. Of the five Delhi seats for which the party has announced candidates in the first list, only one sitting MP has been retained. Bhojpuri singer and actor Manoj Tiwari will once again contest from the North East Delhi seat.

Maintained distance from controversial MPs

But the party did not repeat Harsh Vardhan from Chandni Chowk and Meenakshi Lekhi from New Delhi. In another message, the saffron party has ignored South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhudi, West Delhi MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Bhopal MP Pragya Singh Thakur. Bidhudi stirred up controversy in Parliament last year by making objectionable comments against Danish Ali in the House. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself did not like Pragya Thakur's comment about celebrating Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma has also been in controversy due to his communal statements. This time in the 2024 elections, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramveer Singh Bidhudi will contest from South Delhi. BJP has given tickets to Bansuri Swaraj from Central Delhi and Kamaljit Sehrawat from West Delhi. Alok Sharma will be the face of saffron party from Bhopal.
