According to the information received by the railway sources, this metro will be run between Howrah Maidan and Esplanade. Along with this, Howrah Kavi Subhash Station-Hemant Mukhopadhyay Metro Section and Taratala-Majerhat Metro Section of Kolkata Metro will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. This underwater metro tunnel will operate 32 meters below the level of Hooghly river. With the help of which the commuting time of people will be saved. The country's first underwater metro rail running under the Hooghly will connect the river and Howrah with the city of Kolkata.
What is the specialty of this metro station?
Kolkata Metro's Howrah Maidan-Esplanade Metro Tunnel is the first tunnel under any river in India. Howrah metro station is also considered to be the deepest metro station in India. Majerhat Metro Station is a unique example of engineering. This will be the only metro station designed directly above railway tracks and platforms. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also said that work on the Kolkata Metro started in the 1970s, but the progress made in the last 10 years of the Modi government is more than the previous 40 years.
