Hungary's first female president, Katalin Novak, has been forced to resign. Along with resigning, he also apologized to the countrymen. The President used his office to pardon the convict of one case of sexual abuse. Hungary's president has been criticized for rescuing a child abuser. People were outraged. The opposition also held a demonstration outside the Rashtrapati Bhavan together.
Novak became the first woman president in March 2022. The accused tried to hide the sexual exploitation of children by his boss. This decision was taken last April 2023 during the visit of Pope Francis to Budapest. President Katalin Novak is considered a close ally of current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Novak said in his resignation speech that all victims had failed to help. I will continue to strive to protect children and families. A wrong decision was made by sympathizing with accused pedophilia due to lack of evidence. I have made a mistake, and I apologize to all the victims whose feelings have been hurt. I resign without any further delay.
