Father sentenced to 133 years for raping 11- and 13-year-old daughters

Thiruvananthapuram: In Kerala, a father who raped his two minor daughters multiple times, the local court sentenced him to 133 years in prison for raping his 13-year-old and 11-year-old daughters. The fast-track POCSO court in Malappuram, Kerala, sentenced the 42-year-old father to jail, following which the rapist will now remain in jail until his death. Not only that, Judge Ashraf AMA also fined the offender 8.8 lakh rupees.

The incident of rape of daughters took place between 2021 and 2022, the father first started raping his elder daughter, and victimized her several times. After which he also sexually abused his younger daughter. The convict has been sentenced to 40-40-40 years imprisonment under Section 6(1) of POCSO along with Section 376(3) and 5(l) of IPC. Also three years punishment has been given under Section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act. The sentence was imposed only for the rape of one daughter while the 10-year sentence was imposed for the sexual assault of the younger daughter, so a total sentence of 133 years was imposed.

The mother of both the daughters works in Angalwadi. The father used to prey on the daughters whenever she was going to work or going out, the whole incident came to light when the perpetrator tried to rape his younger daughter. The girl informed her mother about her father's act. When the mother became suspicious, she also asked her elder daughter about this, later both the daughters revealed the father's crime. Both the daughters had told the mother that the father used to rape and if we told anyone, they threatened us, so we could not tell anyone. The elder daughter said that the father raped her and then threatened me that if I told anyone, he would do the same to the younger sister.

After getting the information about the entire incident, the mother was alerted and did not let the husband know that the mother also got the information about his actions.

The mother later sought the help of a local women's panchayat member and told her the details. Later the help of Childline was taken. The statements of both the victim's daughters were taken and Edavanna Police of Kerala filed a complaint against the rapist father under various sections and conducted an investigation. The matter was investigated by Inspector Abdul Majeed. Immediately all the evidence and the charge sheet were presented to the court and the verdict was delivered within a year. The guilty father will now be in prison for about 43 years.
