Children below 16 years of age will not be admitted in coaching, these strict rules will be applicable in the new guidelines of the government
Coaching Centers Guidelines: The central government has now prepared to rein in the bullying of private coaching centers. The central government has prepared new guidelines. According to these new guidelines, now no one can open a private coaching center anywhere and anytime. For that first of all it has to be registered. Not only this, the coaching center will no longer admit children below 16 years of age. A coaching center cannot charge arbitrary fees from any student.
The central government has taken this guideline in view of the increasing suicide cases of students preparing for NEET or JEE across the country and bullying by unscrupulous coaching centers in the country. As per the guidelines, coaching centers for professional courses like IIT JEE, MBBS, NEET should have NOC related to fire and class safety. Psychological and mental health related support should also be made available to students to overcome their difficulties related to exam and success pressure.
Guidelines have been announced earlier
Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centers 2024 have already been sent to the States and Union Territories. While some states already have laws for the regulation of coaching institutes, the central government has proposed these model guidelines amid the growing number of private coaching centers charging high fees and opening up anywhere and suicides there.
The guidelines said that in view of the intense competition and academy pressure on the students, the coaching centers should take necessary steps for the welfare of the children. Coaching institutes should protect students from stress and they should seek help from an experienced psychologist for mental health help.
If the rule is broken, there will be a heavy penalty
Coaching centers will have to pay heavy fines for non-registration as per guidelines and violation of rules and conditions. 25 thousand for the first violation, one lakh for the second time and one lakh for the third time the coaching center has to be prepared to pay huge fine along with registration cancer.
Fee will be refunded within 10 days
As per the guidelines, the fee cannot be increased during the duration of the course. If a student applies to drop out of the course after paying the entire fee, the remaining amount of the course will have to be refunded. The refund will also include hostel and mess fees.
Class will not last more than 5 hours
Under no circumstances will coaching classes run during the timings of students studying in schools or institutes. Classes will not last more than 5 hours in a day. There will be no early morning and late night classes. Students and teachers will get a week off. Coaching centers during festivals will give students an opportunity to connect with family and increase emotional attachment.
Children below 16 years will not be registered
The guidelines introduced by the Central Government for Public Coaching Centers Regulation 2024 suggest that students below the age of 16 should not be admitted to coaching centres. The guidelines also suggest that coaching centers should not give false promises or rank guarantees to parents and students.
Less qualified tutors will not be hired
As per the guidelines, graduate or less qualified tutors will not be allowed to teach coaching classes. To ensure proper monitoring, the Center has proposed registration of new and existing coaching centers within three months of implementation of such guidelines.
The statistics are scary
In 2023 alone, 28 cases of suicide of aspirant students were registered, of which the highest number was in Kota, Rajasthan, India's renowned coaching mandi. Keeping this in mind, the government has prepared such guidelines, through which such incidents can be prevented.
