Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf gets new chairman, Gauhar Ali Khan to replace Imran Khan

There has been a major political upheaval in Pakistan. Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan has been elected as the new president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, replacing the jailed Imran Khan. According to a report, he has been elected to this post unopposed.

PTI Chief Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi announced the results and said that Barrister Gauhar was elected unopposed after the election held today. Niazi said that Umar Ayub Khan has been elected as PTI's Central General Secretary. When Ali Amin Gandapur and Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been elected as the provincial president of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab respectively.

The event took place as per the directions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The party then held the election today. The Central Polling Center was set up near the Motorway Toll Plaza in Rano Garhi, Peshawar where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Zaman arrived.

Zaman spoke to Pakistani media. Meanwhile, he said that the number of voters registered for the election is more than 2 crore. Zaman further said that voting can be done through online app and ballot paper at the polling center in Peshawar.
