The Election Commission has introduced a new facility in the symbol loading process of paper trial machines

To make the election process more transparent, the Election Commission has introduced a new facility in the symbol loading process of paper trial machines, the Union Law Ministry has said in a statement.

According to the annual report of the Ministry of Law 2022-23, under the new facility, the serial number , symbol and names of the candidates can be seen on the monitor or TV screen during cross-checking.

This feature is included in the symbol loading unit. It may be mentioned that the symbol loading unit uploads the name and symbol of the candidate on the VVPAT slip.

It is worth mentioning that since 2019, the EVM votes are compared with the VVPAT machine slips of any five polling stations from each assembly seat.

Assembly elections and seven by-elections were held in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh last year. In all these elections, there was no difference between EVM votes and VVPAT slips.
