Matthew, 36, from West Yorkshire, loved to collect coins. He has been doing this for the last 10 years. Whenever he came back from outside, he would take out whatever coins were in his pocket and put them aside. He never used it. His father was a bus driver and used to take as many coins as he brought in. He was especially fond of depositing 50 paise coins.

Many rare coins emerged

Mathew did not know that one day this 50 paise would make him rich. Many of these coins have emerged which are very rare. They cost hundreds. They have many more valuable coins. These include a 50 pound Cave Garden, Jemima Puddleduck and a two pound Gunpowder Plot Coin. There is competition among people to buy it. According to ChangeChecker, the 2009 Cave Garden 50 paisa coin is the rarest. Currently only 2,10,000 coins exist. That is why people are ready to pay hundreds of rupees for it.

Calls are coming on people's phones

When Matthew's shop closed during the coronavirus, he decided to sell some of the coins he had accumulated. He didn't know that he was going to get all the money in return. He joined a group on Facebook where these coins could be sold. Mathew was surprised to see that on the first day he got 300 pounds or about 30 thousand rupees in coins. A 50 paise coin sold for £157. Now he wants to find something else. He thinks that he will earn about 20000 pounds i.e. about 20 lakh rupees by selling all his coins. Mathew said, "As soon as the coin was posted on Facebook, the phones started ringing with buyers. Hundreds of people are calling every day.
