Damage of 28 billion dollars due to devastating floods in Pakistan

The devastating floods in Pakistan have cost the country $28 billion and long-term reconstruction in the affected areas may take two to ten years, according to a report published in the media.

According to the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), poverty in Pakistan has increased by five percent. This indicates that about 90 lakh to 1.2 crore people may go below the poverty line.

Heavy rains in Pakistan in mid-June followed severe flooding that killed more than 1,600 people and injured thousands.

According to a report published in a Pakistani newspaper, 18 to 20 million jobs have been lost due to the climate change disaster. In Pakistan, which is facing a financial crisis, inflation may reach 23 to 25 percent this year.

Sindh province suffered the highest damage of $5.9 billion due to floods. 3.04 billion dollars have been lost in Balochistan.

0.55 billion dollars in Punjab province , 0.54 billion dollars in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ,0.02 billion dollars in Pakistan controlled Kashmir , 0.03 billion dollars in Gilgit Balistan.
