Then we too would have given support to NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu, Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi, July 1, 2022, Friday

Elections for the presidency of India are to be held on July 18. Former Jharkhand Governor Dwopadi Murmu is the presidential candidate from the ruling NDA. Opposition parties, including the Congress and Mamata Banerjee's TMC party, have unanimously declared former finance minister Yashwant Sinha as their presidential candidate. The country's parliament and state legislators are voters in the presidential election. The value of each MLA's vote varies from state to state.

According to the calculations, the votes of the Opposition are more than those of the NDA but the Opposition is not one while the votes of the NDA are one. This increases the chances of Dwopadi Murmu winning. That is what political experts believe. With the fall of the Uddhav government in Maharashtra, the BJP has returned to power, which could benefit the NDA candidate in the presidential election.

Leader of the Opposition and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee said it was a good thing that the presidential candidate was chosen by consensus. If the BJP had taken the opposition into confidence before selecting Dwopadi Murmu as its presidential candidate, we would have been ready to support it. Now, the unanimously chosen candidate by the Opposition will support Yathwant Sinha.
