Six constituencies in Maharashtra, four in Rajasthan and Karnataka and two in Haryana will go to polls on Friday, the Election Commission said.

The parties have so far kept their MLAs in hotels and resorts for fear of horse trading in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Karnataka. The Election Commission has appointed special observers for the Rajya Sabha elections and has decided to videograph the entire process. In these states, Congress veterans Pramod Tiwari, Ajay Maken, Imran Pratapgadhi, media mogul Subhash Chandra, Kartikeya Sharma etc. are in the fray with the support of BJP.

In Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Telangana, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, 21 candidates have reached the Rajya Sabha unopposed. However, voting will take place on Friday in 14 seats in four states. Out of 21 candidates contesting Rajya Sabha elections in 11 states, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of 11 candidates, followed by Tamil Nadu with six, Bihar with five, Andhra Pradesh with four, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha with three each, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Telangana and Jharkhand with two each and Uttarakhand with one each.
